Cooling & Air Conditioning
What Is a Condenser / Evaporator Coil?
The condenser coil (outdoor unit) releases heat collected from inside; the evaporator coil (indoor unit) absorbs it. A dirty or frozen coil on either end is one of the most common causes of poor cooling.
This definition is pending sign-off from a licensed HVAC reviewer.
Why It Matters to You
A clogged outdoor condenser coil forces your whole system to work harder for the same result — keeping a clear perimeter around the outdoor unit is one of the simplest things a homeowner can do to help efficiency.
Practical Guidance
Keep the outdoor condenser clear of grass clippings, leaves, and debris, and have both coils professionally cleaned as part of an annual tune-up.
